Dec McKearney announced as National Brand Ambassador for Norton Abrasives Pacific.

Saint-Gobain owned Norton Abrasives has this week announced a Key partnership with Dec McKearney as National Brand Ambassador for Norton Abrasives Pacific.

Resto my Ride, the TV series hosted by McKearney and filmed at Resto’s and Rods Garage will shortly head in to Production of its second season of the internationally broadcast car restoration show with Norton Abrasives as a key partner in the show.

Who we are

Dec McKearney and Sam Martin had watched car restoration shows on television and always wondered why Australia never produced their very own. Dec and Sam own and run “Resto’s and Rods Garage” a successful car restoration business and often spoke about the need for an Aussie version of the hugely successful shows that they were watching from overseas.

In 2015 Dec and Sam came up with the concept for Resto my Ride. Dec, a very skilled car builder and Sam a Marketing Executive combined their resources and committed to producing a pilot show  “Resto my Ride – EJ for EJ”

Within a few short weeks the team garnered the support of some awesome Aussie brands and in only 10 short weeks the restoration of an 1963 EJ Holden was documented,  filmed and gifted to charity and the pilot episode of Resto my Ride was complete.

And that was just the beginning …

Dec and Sam lead the helm each day at Resto’s and Rods Garage. Documenting the transformation of old cars back to their former glory with Irish banter and an Aussie twist.

We have an exceptional team, both in the workshop and in marketing and production. We are the first Australian Resto TV Show and we constantly strive to push the boundaries and expectations of this industry and the automotive category.

Resto my Ride

Under the watchful eye of Dec McKearney, Resto my Ride showcases a unique team of Aussie panel beaters, spray painters and mechanics who share a passion to bring older rod, muscle, classic and custom vehicles back to their former glory.

Season 1 – 6 x 45 HD

EJ for EJ 

Dec commits to building an “EJ Holden for the EJ Whitten” Charity Foundation. In only 9 short weeks Dec has to call in his buddies to help finish the build in time for the auction day. Dec gets a huge surprise from his Dad and works with Australia’s most well-known AFL footy legends.

Two for One Mustangs

Resto’s and Rods Garage had resto’d cars for Insurer LSV before so when they asked Dec to build a Custom 1968 Ford Mustang to be unveiled at a car show in only 10 weeks, he said yes. In the middle of the build the team head to SEMA in Las Vegas and come back to more work than what they expected.

The Royal Treatment  

All eyes are on this 1939 Chrysler Royal as it arrives out of storage to Resto’s and Rods garage. The Chrysler undergoes a surprise transformation for this client and is literally given Royal Treatment for its 80th Birthday.

We’re going to Bash this Holden

Sam commits the crew to resto a HR Holden so she can go on the Variety Bash and drive from Melbourne to Darwin for Charity. With only three weeks to get the car Bash ready Dec must ensure that the car can handle the roads and the wildlife of Outback Australia.

Grand Ma’s Resto

Pete loved to drive his beloved XW to his Grand Mothers and drive the country roads with her sharing with her his dreams of one day having the car restored. When she passed away she left Pete two important things. A bundle of cash and strict instructions to get the XW restored.

Stars and their Cars

Australian actor Andrew Daddo wants the coolest ride on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Dec has other ideas on how the Resto should look and Andrew is kept in the dark until it’s time to reveal the car in the Stars and their Cars exhibition. Dec and Chip Foose hang out talking Aussie cars at MotorEx Car Festival.
